The work of Marlene Morvillo is an intense journey through her constant pursuit of equality and rectification of injustice.
Sometimes uncomfortable and always confronting she creates powerful statement filled juxtapositions through the manipulation of materials and tools such as fabric, ceramic, paint and photography.
Her approach is that of social commentator bringing to the foreground that which is often kept behind closed doors or swept under the carpet of society.
Born in Naples, Italy, Marlene has a strong affinity with those less fortunate, which lead her from an early age to seek volunteer work with under-privileged children, refugees, the elderly and disabled.
Her experiences with these groups has moulded her and given her a voice and a morel responsibility to inform through her practice.
